Danae’s first collaboration is a partnership with the Women’s Association of Naxos, a weaving studio founded in 1989 and run by local women in the village of Apeiranthos. On traditional handlooms, known as krevataria, each fabric is woven with devotion and care. This studio is more than a place of production—it is a sanctuary of craft, where skill and soul intertwine. Every weave carries the weight of generations, infused with meraki—the untranslatable essence of love, creativity, and wholehearted labor that breathes life into every thread.
Homecoming marks the beginning of a deeply personal journey where heritage is transformed into vision. Rooted in Greek ancestry, this collection honors the unseen hands that shaped tradition and ancestral wisdom, while reimagining them through contemporary expression. It celebrates the threads of memory, culture, and identity that connect past and present.
Time slows in Apeiranthos village, where the weaving studio sits high amidst breathtaking landscapes. The air carries birdsong and the quiet hum of community. The women speak in their vernacular, their conversations interwoven with political insight, lived experience, and ancestral knowledge—guardians of Cycladic techniques and traditional motifs passed down through generations.
The collection revitalizes age-old crafts, balancing nostalgia with innovation, reverence with reinvention. Pajama-style striped trousers adorned with delicate crochet appliqués evoke childhood memories and island summers—familiar yet strikingly modern.
Classic Cuban shirts are redefined through hand-crocheted spiral lace on creamy, refined bases—delicate yet bold. The spiral, a powerful Greek symbol of eternity and renewal, draws inspiration from the organic beauty of Cycladic nature. Crafted with ultra-fine yarn, the artisan counts each stitch carefully, intuitively shaping the pattern—a quiet act of mastery that honors heritage with understated elegance.
