A Dialogue Between Memory, Material, and Meaning

Rooted in research and craftsmanship, the process of the Fate Collection, involves exploring lost customs, traditional techniques, and the invisible threads that connect generations — beliefs, instincts, superstitions, and the unspoken codes of Greek life.
The collection is brought to life through close collaboration with a community of women artisans in the village of Apeiranthos on the island of Naxos. Handweaving, embroidery, and age-old textile techniques are practiced with care and intention, preserving skills that are slowly disappearing. Each piece is the result of shared knowledge, collective memory, and the quiet strength of women’s hands.

Miss Sofia handweaves the stavroto fabric that will adorn our one-of-a-kind jackets.
In Apeiranthos, traditional handlooms (krevataries) are narrow, making patchwork essential — a puzzle of memory and material that brings together smaller pieces into a single, unified textile. One signature technique is stavroto (cross-weave), where vertical and horizontal stripes intersect to form crosses. Using four heddles and two threads per pass, this method produces a dense, rhythmic fabric — rich in texture, structure, and movement.

Embroidery, with its delicacy and patience, is a quiet form of storytelling. Each motif captures a feeling or memory — never rushed or disposable, but crafted with time, care, and respect. The sporty black Marley Shirt features vibrant sleeves made from handwoven striped cotton. Naxian weaver Ms. Kyriaki used the traditional red technique, known for its rich red warp yarn, adding depth and character to every thread.

Tamata—beads or charms sewn into garments—are personal symbols of strength and protection, acting as invisible shields. When made with intention, they carry a quiet energy. The white Good Luck Shirt honors this tradition, blending Cycladic minimalism with mystical symbolism. Adorned with hand-crocheted blue Matakia (eye charms), it channels positive energy and protection.

Begrims garments carry memory and reconnect people with the true essence of clothing. Each piece is effortlessly beautiful, crafted with deep thought and care. The process is filled with joy — working together while singing, talking, laughing, and listening to the birds — all created with meraki.
